Today, Acting Governor Her Excellency Anya Williams and the Honourable Premier Charles Washington Misick, OBE, met with the new deployment of tactical officers following their completion of their orientation and start of their tactical operations in the Turks and Caicos Islands. The contingent includes 30 officers from Jamaica and 10 from Barbados, who will be supporting the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force in its efforts to combat crime and maintain public safety.

This deployment marks a key milestone in the Government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening national security and ensuring the safety and well-being of residents and visitors across the Islands. The initiative follows continued collaboration with regional partners to enhance policing capabilities and provide targeted support in critical areas.
In his remarks, Premier Misick stated:

“I am pleased by the arrival of this contingent of tactical officers from Jamaica and Barbados, which is fully funded by my Government. Their deployment clearly demonstrates our Government’s promise to bolster the resources necessary to maintain law and order. This deployment is in addition funding in the 2025/26 Budget for 75 permanent placements in the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force to ensure permanent resource capacity. We are grateful for the continued support from our regional partners and confident that this effort, along with the $108 million recent allocation for public order and safety in our islands, will contribute significantly to reducing crime and improving public safety.”
Acting Governor Anya Williams also emphasized the importance of the deployment:
“We extend heartfelt thanks to the Governments of Jamaica and Barbados for answering our call and deploying officers to support the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force. Law enforcement is not merely a job but a noble service and a profound sacrifice you and your families made. As you join us, know that you are part of our policing family—serve with pride, uphold integrity, and stand with us in our shared mission to combat crime across these islands.”

The officers will be integrated into the operational framework of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force, focusing on high-priority areas and community-based policing initiatives. Their presence will enable a more robust response to crime and help reinforce public confidence in law enforcement.
The Government remains committed to collaborating with regional allies and local stakeholders to deliver sustainable improvements to security and uphold the rule of law throughout the Turks and Caicos Islands.
