As a part of Youth Week 2025 celebrations which are being held under the theme “Recycle Today for a Greener Tomorrow”, the Environmental Health Department’s Recycling Pilot Project launched its first community outreach activity on Tuesday, September 23rd, by engaging students across Grand Turk in interactive learning about recycling and sustainable waste management.

The initiative reached all three primary schools, where students took part in short presentations on waste separation and recycling, followed by interactive challenges that encouraged them to put their knowledge into practice. The sessions were lively, informative, and well-received, sparking enthusiasm among both students and teachers.

At H.J. Robinson High School, the outreach combined education with creativity. Students participated in a presentation and Q&A session on recycling, and the Project officially launched its Logo Design Challenge under the theme “Recycle Today for a Greener Tomorrow.” Students were invited to submit digital designs to help brand the initiative, with the winning entry set to be announced on October 23rd, 2025.

This Youth Week engagement marked an important step in raising awareness among young people, laying the groundwork for continued collaboration with schools as the Recycling Pilot Project works to build a culture of sustainability across the Turks and Caicos Islands.
