The Department of Library Services is proud to announce the grand opening of the Historical and Cultural Library Division at the Victoria Public Library, located on Front Street in the heart of the nation’s capital. This landmark event will take place on Thursday, 15 May at 10:00 AM, marking a major step forward in the preservation, celebration, and promotion of the rich cultural heritage of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
The new division is a dedicated space that brings to life the story of our islands—honouring the past while educating and inspiring the future. Through thoughtfully curated collections, interactive exhibits, and engaging educational programmes, the Historical and Cultural Library Division will offer visitors a unique opportunity to explore our national identity, values, and traditions

The facility will showcase a diverse array of historical documents, rare books, photographs, oral histories, and cultural artifacts, carefully preserved to reflect the resilience and vibrancy of the Turks and Caicos people.
Hon. Rachel Taylor, Minister of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture, stated:
“We are proud to establish a space that pays tribute to the legacy of our ancestors while serving as a wellspring of knowledge for generations to come. This new division will be an invaluable resource for students, educators, researchers, and the wider community.”
The Department of Library Services extends a warm invitation to members of the public, schools, cultural institutions, and historians to attend the opening ceremony and celebrate this important milestone together.
