The Department of Culture & Heritage has launched a nationwide survey to hear directly from the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands about the cultural programmes, activities, and topics that matter most to them.

The survey invites residents and visitors across all islands to share their views on how the Department can better preserve, promote, and celebrate the country’s cultural heritage. By gathering this feedback, the Department aims to design inclusive and engaging initiatives that reflect the community’s voices and create opportunities for cultural exchange. “This survey is an important step in ensuring that our people are not only participants but also leaders in shaping how we celebrate and share our heritage,” said Director of Culture, Odessa Forbes. “By lending your voice, you are helping us build programmes that honour our past, strengthen our present, and inspire the future.”
The Minister of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture, Hon. Rachel Taylor, emphasized the critical role of families and youth: “Our culture is one of our greatest national treasures, and it is our duty to protect and promote it for generations to come. Parents, schools, and youth groups play a vital role in ensuring that children grow up knowing their traditions and identity. This survey is an invitation for every individual, household, and community to help define the cultural vision of our islands, and I encourage your full participation.”
The survey covers cultural expression, events, and participation, with opportunities for participants to propose new themes and formats for engagement, including events, workshops, online resources, and school partnerships.
The Department encourages participation from everyone, regardless of age, nationality, or background, with special emphasis on involving parents, schools, and youth organizations to ensure young people actively participate in preserving and celebrating their cultural identity.
