The Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports, and Culture, through the Department of Culture, invites the public to join in the national commemoration of Emancipation Day on Friday, 1 August 2025. This year’s theme is “From Chains to Courage: Honouring Our Past, Shaping Our Future.”

The Emancipation Day celebrations will take place in Grand Turk, beginning with a Freedom Walk at 8:00 AM, followed by the main ceremony at 9:00 AM at Emancipation Square. The event will feature a special reflection on the significance of Emancipation Day, along with cultural performances, and activities that highlight the importance of this historic occasion.
Schedule of Events:
- 8:00 AM – 8:45 AM: Freedom Walk from St. Mary’s Anglican Church to Clock Tower
- 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM: Emancipation Day Ceremony at Emancipation Square, Grand Turk
- 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM: Family Fun and Entertainment Day, Library Tennis Count

All are welcome to partake in the Freedom Walk as a symbolic journey to Emancipation Square, marking this important moment in our nation’s history.

- The dress code for the ceremony is white attire, with a touch of red to signify freedom.
